Final Magazine Advert - Portrait
This is the
final version of my portrait magazine advertisement/poster that I created as
part of my ancillary tasks. The poster conforms to most conventions of a
magazine advertisement for an album as it includes vital information such as
the name of the artist, album name and the name of Ed Sheeran’s hit single as
well as other important pieces of information including social networking sites
and star ratings from a variety of different companies. From my last draft, I
changed the font of the quotes including the phrase ‘heart-rendering’ to the
font Bell MT as after talking to my teacher, he believed this looked too plain
and boring. I also included ‘limited’ in
front of Vinyl as these are not as popular nowadays as big music stores such as
HMV don’t sell as many of them, which suggests placing ‘limited’ in front may
entice music lovers to want to get the Vinyl edition as these are not easy to
buy in comparison to Cd’s and on digital.
By using the same colour scheme – Orange,
White and Black as well as a black and white image, my magazine
advertisement/posters follows a sense of continuity that keeps it connected to
the other ancillary task as well as the main music video.

My Magazine Advert/Poster in print
Following the finished design of my magazine advertisement, I decided to experiment using Photoshop to see how my magazine and poster would appear in real advertising space. After looking at different promotional methods I decided to pick these three mediums as I believe they are the most effective. I mainly used Adobe Photoshop CS6 to create these designs and learned how to use the Puppet Warp Tool from watching various tutorials on YouTube. I found the tool to very helpful and time-effective as it easily enables you to stretch an object and skew it's appearance. I also filmed myself, showing a step-by-step guide as to how I created my magazine advert/poster in another post called 'Construction of my Magazine Advert/Poster in print'.
Final Digipak

Digipak Template:
This is my final digipak. I previously wanted a 4 page digipak but after much consideration I decided to include a 6 page digipak as the original pictures and information I wanted to include did not fit. I have included a variety of images to suit my music video including photos of my narrative characters - Victor and Sam as well as my main protagonist Aaron. I strictly told Aaron to hold an accoustic guitar as this is typically associated with Indie music. After looking at a varied selection of digipaks as part of my research task, I quite liked the idea of Sam Smith's album as it was quite minimilistic and simple something which I liked as it was easy to understand what he was trying to sell. Following my other ancillary tasks, I contiued with my house style of orange, white and black to show a sense of continuity. On the back cover of the digipak, I used the same font 'Albertsthal Typewriter' as I had previously used for the artists name 'Ed Sheeran' (shown on the front cover) to convey a sense of continuity. I decided to place the text in the centre as I believe this makes it easier for the audience to read. The second image shows how my digipak would work as a 6 page digipak.
