My Magazine Advert/Poster in print

Following the finished design of my magazine advertisement, I decided to experiment using Photoshop to see how my magazine and poster would appear in real advertising space. After looking at different promotional methods I decided to pick these three mediums as I believe they are the most effective. I mainly used Adobe Photoshop CS6 to create these designs and learned how to use the Puppet Warp Tool from watching various tutorials on YouTube. I found the tool to very helpful and time-effective as it easily enables you to stretch an object and skew it's appearance. I also filmed myself, showing a step-by-step guide as to how I created my magazine advert/poster in another post called 'Construction of my Magazine Advert/Poster in print'.

Brand Guidelines

This document displays the brand guidelines that I have created for my artist 'Ed Sheeran', to keep a consistent theme throughout my work. The document is essential as it provides basic rules and guidelines for the way my brand must be presented, enabling the audience to instantly recognise that this product belongs to Ed Sheeran. 

Construction of my Magazine Advert/Poster in print

 This video shows a moving image step-by-step guide as to how I created my magazine advert/poster using the puppet warp tool in Adobe Photoshop CS6. I produced this video using the software CamStudio which I found to be very quick and easy. 

Floor plans

These are my floor plans for my studio shoots in the Drama Studio and St Mary's Hall. The first image conveys a simple layout of a bird eyes view perspective of my shoot with Aaron in the Drama Studio. I intend to use three studio lights, which I will place around the artist, this will hopefully give a soft and shadow effect on the artist's face, making him appear more emotional and sad. I will also use a diffuser light which helps to project the light forward and in all directions, enalbing me to illuminate my subject. Furthermore, I will also use a steadicam, to create more diverse camera shots as I will be able to walk around the artist freely to create interesting panning shoots. Similary for my shoot in St Mary's Hall I will use the steadicam again as my artist will be playing the piano. The steadicam will enable me to walk around the piano, as I film Aaron playing the piano alike the music video 'All Of Me' by John Legend.

Planning for the Magazine Advert

This is a sketch of my initial ideas for my magazine advertisement. Before producing the sketch, I looked back at my analysis of real world magazine adverts to make sure I knew what I needed to include. I then decided on the layout, originally I wanted to include a series of images on the front page but after looking at other adverts I decided to include one simple image to make the advert seem less busy and overcrowding. Looking through my previous photo shoot with my main characters Sam and Victor, I decided to include a long shot of the grandson leaning on the grandfather's shoulder to convey feelings of love and empathy which are illustrated in the song 'Afire Love'. Furthermore, when producing the sketch, I enlarged the sizing of the artists name 'Ed Sheeran' and the name of his album 'X' as these are both vital pieces of information, providing the audience information on the artist and their album name. This also makes it easily recognisable for the audience as they will be able to easily identify the band's brand guidelines if the writing is much larger than the rest. At the top of the page, I also added information regarding the different formats the album will be available on, following the typical conventions of an album magazine advert. I will now be able to produce a draft using Adobe InDesign following this sketch of initial ideas.

This is the personnel details for my music shoot. The document highlights all the people that will be involved in the production of my video. Along with people's names I have also listed the role they will play and the equipment needed for each indiviual.

Location Release Contract

A location release is important to anyone who intends to photograph, videotape or record on property that is not owned by themselves. This document verifies that I have permission from the selected owners to use their location to film for my music video and highlights the different terms and conditions I had to comply to, to ensure that I am able to use the selected locations as I wish.  For example, as part of my performance I had to get permission from my media teacher Mr Fisher to use the drama studio at Haydon School before I began filming.

Actor Release Form

These are actor release forms for music video. The document clarifies that my actors have agreed and are happy to participate in my music video for my media coursework. The document is important as it is a legal form which states that an identifiable published photo, video, performance or silhouette  of a person without an actor release can result in civil liability by the director of the video. The use of the actor release also restrains the public from using and publishing the video. The act of taking a video of someone in a public setting without a actor release or showing a video in private goes against the main purpose of the actor release form as the form creates liability for the video as they are kept separate from copyright. There are also many different types of release forms including a minor release form which requires a signature by a parent or other legal guardian of the model and a group release which is a modified version of the adult release which includes an additional signature to be used by multiple models or subjects in a single image.
